Quench Your Thirst

It’s August. It’s hot. And it seems like water is on everyone’s mind. We want to drink it loaded with ice, swim in it to refresh and cool off, and attach it to a fan to mist us if we’re insane enough to sit outside. Even the plants cry out for water as they start to wilt in the afternoon sun. Water is a precious resource—no organism can live without some form of it.

The Ten Commandments Revisited

The Ten Commandments weren’t put in place to make us perfect; they were to show us we need a Savior. These aren’t just rules that we have to obey, but a mirror to show us we can’t obey. No matter how hard we try, we can’t keep God’s law perfectly. Maybe we haven’t actually killed someone or stolen anything, but all of us have broken God’s law at some point if not daily.

How To Show Mercy

An apology doesn’t make everything okay. It doesn’t take away the sting of betrayal, mend a broken heart, or instantaneously re-establish trust. But it’s a start. In the same way, forgiving someone isn’t saying everything is okay. It doesn’t turn back the clock or numb our emotions. But it’s the beginning of God’s work in and through us.
