Flat Guys 2012 Photo Contest Winners
We are excited to announce the winners of the 2012 Flat Guys Photo Contest! We received many great entries and it was difficult to pick our top 3, but our Skit Guys Team helped vote to narrow down the winners.
Come Just As Your Are: Being Real at Church
No matter how often we hear “come just as you are” at church, it’s not easy to put into practice. There’s a routine to it that’s hard to escape. Nicely dressed people mingle and laugh over coffee, while well groomed children are checked into their classes with a smile and a wave. But too often a routine can begin to feel like an expectation and we lose sight of God’s purpose for us on a Sunday morning.
New Accounts On SkitGuys.com
We recently released a new "My Accounts" section on SkitGuys.com. You may have already noticed if you made a purchase within the last week. We have never offered accounts before, so you don't already have one, unless you made one within the last week.
How To Stay Encouraged While Sharing the Gospel
God bless Sunday school teachers! The truth is it’s hard to get through to some people whether they’re three or eighty-three. We get frustrated feeling like we never get anywhere no matter how many times we try to explain God’s truth’s to them. It’s tempting to give up and spend our time teaching more promising students, but the story of Zacchaeus has a lesson for everyone.
Building a Solid Foundation
Most of us are guilty of trying to buy security in one way or another. We buy insurance plans for all the “just in case” scenarios; we set money aside to make sure we’re taken care of in the future; we work hard to make enough money so we don’t have to worry—ever. And though we’ve all heard that money doesn’t buy happiness, it’s hard to really believe. In reality, sometimes it’s just easier to trust our paycheck than it is to depend on God.
Leaving an Eternal Impact
Like Dennis, we are all broken in some ways. No matter how put together we may seem on the surface no one goes through life without experiencing pain, loneliness, and a sense of longing for love and acceptance. We can’t take away people’s problems but we can point them to the one “who delivers your life from the Pit, who crowns you with his loyal love and compassion, who satisfies your life with good things, so your youth is renewed like an eagle’s” (Ps 103:4-5).
Meet the Skitzy Chicks
Carrie Varnell and Melinda Whitten are the Skitzy Chicks. They met and became fast friends nine years ago while pregnant with their last children. We have had the pleasure of working with the Skitzy Chicks over the years through performances, video and script collaboration.
Be Bold: Serve with Humility
Sometimes good intentions backfire. No matter what they say, after the age of about six it’s not just the thought that counts. Enthusiasm reads pushy, boldness is seen as aggressive, and Christian metaphors sound weird to people who have no context for them.
