This is a loose modern-day take on Martha, the sister of Lazarus and Mary. Marta’s plans for her future have all fallen apart, but she’s reminded that we are called to wait for the Lord. He is never late. The monologue stands on its own but is also designed to be part four of a series of five monologues by characters tied to a modern-day version of the Biblical story of Lazarus. In this retelling, she is the granddaughter of the Mary stand-in, cousin of the Lazarus stand-in, and daughter of the Peter stand-in.

The monologue stands on its own but is also designed to be the last in a series of five monologues by characters tied to a modern-day version of the Biblical story of Lazarus. In this retelling, he is the grandson of the Mary stand-in, cousin of the Martha stand-in, and nephew of the Peter stand-in. NOTE: This script has two endings. The dark ending leaves more questions open. The light ending finishes on a more hopeful, inspirational note.
